In the summer of 2016 I entered a short story competition run by Bird’s Nest Books, an independent publisher based in Cambridgeshire. To my surprise, since I’d never done anything like it before, I came in first place.
My entry was called “The Last Moa”. In under 1500 words, it tells the stories of a young Maori man and a European scientist, both drawn to the now extinct great moa of New Zealand. You can read it here.
I am currently working on a few writing projects and, after years of daydreaming about it, am finally getting started on my first novel.
